Frequently asked questions
Does it cost more to use an agent?
No. Agents are paid by the insurance company. Marketplace plan prices are the same whether you enroll on your own or with me.
When can I sign up for health insurance?
Open enrollment for 2027 coverage runs November 1, 2026 to January 15, 2027 in states that use HealthCare.gov, including Utah. Enroll by December 15 for coverage that starts January 1. Outside open enrollment, you can enroll only after a qualifying life event, such as losing other coverage, moving, getting married, or having a baby.
Can I get help paying my premium?
Many people qualify for a premium tax credit based on household size and expected income. I’ll check what you qualify for before you choose a plan.
What should I have ready to apply?
Birth dates and Social Security numbers (or immigration document numbers) for everyone applying, your best estimate of household income for next year, and a list of your doctors and prescriptions.
What is HealthSherpa?
HealthSherpa is a private enrollment platform approved by the federal government to enroll people in Marketplace plans. It shows the same plans and prices as HealthCare.gov and lists me as your agent, so I can help you after you enroll.
